ABPA: Rising eggs prices are seasonal

After a long period of low prices, egg sales have increased due to the natural demand at the time, when red meat consumption is replaced by white proteins and eggs.

It is worth noting that production costs have accumulated an increase in the last eight months, with a 30% increase in the price of corn and more than 100% in the cost of packaging inputs. At the same time, temperatures at historic levels have a direct impact on poultry productivity, with repercussions on the supply of products.

Even with these factors, producers expect the market to return to normal by the end of the Lenten period, with the reestablishment of consumption levels for various proteins.

It is worth remembering that, although on the rise, egg exports have practically no effect on domestic supply, as they represent less than 1% of the 59 billion units that are expected to be produced this year, which should generate per capita consumption of 272 units per year – more than 40 units above the world average consumption.
