South Korea begins audit of Paraguayan beef exports

The National Service for Animal Health and Quality (Senacsa) reported that the initial meeting of the on-site audit of the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) of South Korea was held last week.

South Korea begins audit of Paraguayan beef exports

This is a key step in the framework of the opening of this market, they indicated.

The meeting was attended by Senacsa's president, José Carlos Martin, and general directors, along with the team of auditors.  The delegation was composed of Jinmock Jeong, Yoeongsun Jung, Jimin Park and Yunseo Jung.

According to the report,  the inspection activities will extend until February 20, 2025. During the period of the inspections, the auditors will carry out a comprehensive evaluation of the official controls implemented by the institution in Senacsa establishments and points.

The process will include  visits to the central laboratory, private laboratories, livestock farms, meat packing plants and regional offices. This market had already made a first visit last October and had the best results, leading to this second one.

The meat sector had expressed  its expectation regarding the progress of negotiations with this destination , whose audit had been announced for this February since the market is characterized by paying a good price for products and is attractive due to its millions of inhabitants. In 2023, it imported about 390,000 tons for a value of about USD 2.4 billion.
