Suriname enters the map of Brazilian beef exports
The announcement was made by MAPA last week. Although it is not a country with a large population or a significant consumer market, the opening of Suriname represents another step forward for the sector.
"Each new market makes a difference, and this achievement reinforces the competitiveness of Brazilian beef on the global stage", highlights Abiec president Roberto Perosa. In addition to expanding markets, Suriname’s entry also reflects the success of the strategy to promote Brazilian beef internationally. "The joint action between the private sector, through Abiec, and the federal government, via Apex Brasil, within the scope of the Brazilian Beef Project, has been fundamental in opening doors and consolidating the presence of Brazilian beef abroad", he says.
With the two new additions this February, Brazilian beef now reaches 159 countries around the world. In the case of Suriname, beef joins an import agenda focused on food products and live animals. The country imports around 800 tons of beef per year, and Brazil is expected to occupy a significant share of this supply.
