Spanish investigators are hunting down weak meat products
275 tonnes of ham and other meat products were destroyed by the Spanish police in Extramadura as part of an operation that is hunting down weak meat products introduced into the market under the label of some of the renewed Iberian brands.
Also, other 490 tonnes of sliced cold meat (mainly chorizo, salami and salchichon) along with 15,000 pieces of Jamon (ham) discovered in the warehouses of different companies from Alzira, Bocairent, Cheste y Real de Montroy, in Valencia region, have been confiscated, informs C de Comunicacion portal.
The investigation was launched by the Badajoz prosecutor's office in 2017 and by now has extended to other parts of Spain. Seven brands are targeted by the investigators in this case that seems to copy the MO met in Brazil's rotten meat scandal.
