Paraguay makes its first shipment of frozen kosher beef to the United States
According to the National Animal Health and Quality Service (Senacsa), this first package consisted of 24 tons of meat, sent by the Frigomerc SA meat processing plant, and represents the result of a joint effort between the country's public and private sectors.
Senacsa highlighted that this achievement not only opens new doors in the international market, but also reflects the confidence that foreign markets have in the quality and safety standards of Paraguayan products. "These types of opportunities are consolidated thanks to the collaboration between the public and private sectors, which ensures the quality of our products and by-products of animal origin", the organization emphasized.
At a recent meeting, Senacsa head José Carlos Martin met with the Israeli ambassador to Paraguay, Amit Mekel, to discuss opportunities to expand bilateral trade. Among the topics discussed was the possibility of exporting lamb meat to Israel, as well as continuing to increase shipments of kosher beef to the United States.
This achievement is part of a successful year for beef exports, with a record close in 2024. During that year, Paraguay reached revenues of USD 147.57 million thanks to the shipment of 28,326 tons of beef, the highest value of the last decade. Between 2014 and 2024, the Israeli market received a total of 179,015 tons of beef worth more than USD 958 million, representing 94% of the country's beef exports.
5,758 tons of beef fat were also shipped, totaling USD 5.87 million, as well as 5,972 tons of offal worth USD 19.13 million.
This first shipment of kosher meat marks the beginning of new opportunities for Paraguayan meat in international markets and reinforces Paraguay's commitment to the continuous improvement of its export products.
