Mexico increases production of pig meat
Mexico has increased its production of pig meat for the first two months of the year, according to official data released by the Ministry of Agriculture. 5,000 tonnes of pork (+2%) have been added in January and February this year, an increase that keeps pace with the results observed in 2021. Last year, the North American country has reported total production of 1,686,802 tonnes of pork, according to preliminary data reported by the authorities. That is 35,000 tonnes more than the volume reported in 2020 (+2%).
Currently, Mexico is ranked as the world's 13th producer of pork and is able to export products to Japan, the United States, Singapore, Canada, South Korea, Vietnam, Hong Kong, Chile and China. Last year, the volume of pork exports surpassed 250,000 tonnes.
