Chile: Beef production increased by 13.6 percent in October
In October 2024, the total production of beef was 6,882.8 tons (t) in the Los Ríos and Los Lagos Regional Group, registering an increase of 13.6% compared to the same month of the previous year, according to what was reported by the National Institute of Statistics.
At the national level, the production of beef from bovine cattle was 16,384.0 t, showing an interannual increase of 8.4%, with the Los Ríos and Los Lagos regional group accounting for 40.7% of the production, followed by the Araucanía Region, which contributed 18.1%.
The entry into the slaughter process of cattle for human consumption (known as benefit) was 27,983 total heads, at the regional level, which represents a year-on-year increase of 12.2%.
The benefit of bovine cattle at the national level was 62,189 heads, showing a growth of 7.5%, compared to the same period of the previous year, with the regional group of Los Ríos and Los Lagos concentrating 40.9% of the national benefit, followed by the Araucanía Region, which contributed with 18.2%.
In October 2024, the total number of cattle sold at fairs in the Los Lagos and Aysén Regional Group totaled 27,960 heads, registering a growth of 8.3% compared to the same period of the previous year.
The national auction of cattle amounted to 77,995 heads, with an increase of 2.8% compared to the same month of the previous year, with the Los Lagos and Aysén Group accounting for 35.4% of the cattle auctioned at fairs, followed by the Araucanía Region, which participated with 23.5%.
