The Philippines are expected to import more meat from Brazil as the country is looking for sources that are free from African swine fever (ASF) to cover the increasing domestic demand.

Brazil expects to export more meat to the Philippines

Following a ban in 2017 over Salmonella issues, the Brazilan Animal Protein Association (ABPA) says that in 2018 the shipments of meat from Brazil to the Philippines have "strongly improved", as reported by the Business Mirror.

The executive director of ABPA Ricardo Santin told Business Mirror that the interest in Brazilian poultry and pork grew because the Latin American country is free from avian influenza and African swine fever.

In 2018, Brazil exported 47.62% more poultry meat to the Philippines in 2018 than a year ago, reaaching 52,454.218 metric tons.

Meanwhile, the Brazilian pork exports to the Philippines grew by 481.9% to 12,055.879 MT in the mentioned period.
