JBS multiplies its fleet of electric trucks by 7 and avoids the emission of 5.2 thousand tons of CO₂
This number is equivalent to the annual CO2 absorption of 237 thousand adult trees or 1,080 trips around the world in a car. During this period, the fleet of No Carbon, a JBS company specializing in the rental of 100% electric trucks, grew to 281 vehicles. The company serves the Friboi and Seara brands in all regions of Brazil. In total, these trucks have already traveled 12.5 million kilometers.
For JBS, expanding its fleet of electric Urban Cargo Vehicles (VUC) goes beyond a commitment to environmental sustainability - it is an efficiency strategy. "Investing in sustainable solutions combines environmental commitment and efficiency, contributing to reducing impacts and optimizing operations", says Armando Volpe, No Carbon commercial director at JBS .
"In addition to minimizing CO₂ emissions, the electric trucks in the No Carbon fleet represent a significant reduction in operating and maintenance costs compared to diesel models. It is a win-win solution for JBS, our partners and the environment", Volpe highlights . No Carbon has been a key pillar for JBS in replacing the diesel trucks used by the Company’s logistics service providers with electric models.
Results like these contribute to boosting fleet electrification in Brazil. The adoption of electric vehicles in the country grew 173% in 2022 and 2023, according to the research “Leading the Journey: Accelerating ROI Through Trusted Data Insights”, by Geotab, a remote vehicle management platform partnered with No Carbon.
Operational efficiency
Electric trucks offer greater operational efficiency, significantly reducing the cost of refueling per kilometer driven. They use up to 90% of the available energy, compared to 30% for a diesel vehicle. In addition, preventive and corrective maintenance is more economical, as there are fewer components to replace, such as air, oil and fuel filters, exhaust system, belts, injector nozzle and injection pump. With faster, less frequent and up to seven times cheaper maintenance, the fleet gains in availability and productivity.
No Carbon trucks have a capacity of up to 3 tons and are equipped with refrigerated boxes that keep products cool and frozen within the required standards - and best of all, without consuming the vehicle's own energy. With a range of up to 150 km, they are the ideal solution for urban operations.
Specialized in the management of electric trucks, No Carbon works in all stages - from vehicle acquisition to operation. With the support of partners and the use of telemetry and georeferencing systems, the company has contributed to optimizing JBS's logistics, generating gains in safety and operational efficiency. In addition, the use of electric trucks is aligned with the principles of the GHG Protocol, which guides the measurement of CO₂ emissions.
