Whole Foods is switching to less plastic solution in packaging

Whole Foods Market, a retail chain present in the US, UK, and Canada, announced that is going to change its packaging solution with a more friendly environmentally concept, informs Supermarket Perimeter magazine.
"For almost 40 years, caring for the environment has been central to our mission and how we operate. We recognize that single-use plastics are a concern for many of our customers, team members and suppliers, and we’re proud of these packaging changes, which will eliminate an estimated 800,000 pounds (32.6 tonnes) of plastics annually. We will continue to look for additional opportunities to further reduce plastic across our stores", declared A.C. Gallo, president, and chief merchandising officer at Whole Foods Market.
The first initiative regards changing the hard plastic containers it has used in its deli rotisserie department with bags that use about 70% less plastic. Also, the company announced that will eliminate plastics straws in its magazines and will switch to smaller plastic bags in its produce department.
