Vietnamese cephalopod exports to South Korea up in value in H1 2018

Although Vietnam's cephalopod exports to South Korea decreased in July 2018 by 2.8% to $20 million compared to July 2017, the total value of exports in the first seven months of this year increased by 13% compared to the same period in 2017, reaching $130 million.

Vietnamese cephalopod exports to South Korea up in value in H1 2018

The Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP) said that South Korea continues to remain Vietnam's largest importing market of cephalopod.

After a downward trend in 2017, South Korea's cephalopod tended to increase in the first half of 2018.

According to VASEP, China was the largest supplier of this item to South Korea (53.2%), followed by Peru (31%) and Vietnam (10.9%).

In the top 7 main suppliers, South Korea increased imports from China, Peru, Vietnam and Thailand while reducing imports from Chile, the Philippines and Japan. In particular, imports from Vietnam witnessed the highest rise.

Meanwhile, Vietnam's octopus exports to South Korea reported a record increase of 15% in the first seven months of 2018. "Octopus kept as the main export products of Vietnam to South Korea, accounting for more than 72% of total export value."
