Vietnam is increasing its presence in Japan's poultry market
Japan will receive more poultry from Vietnam in the next months as foreign investors in the country secured access to this destination, according to Vietnam Plus magazine.
Nearly 100 tonnes of poultry and poultry products are delivered every month to Japanese partners by Koyu&Unitek Co and the company plans to expand its line of business along with the production capacity.
Two more processing lines for fried and boiled chicken were installed by the company and Japan’s veterinary agency was invited to inspect and issue eligibility certificates in order to allow poultry exports starting this summer, mentioned Khuu Nhon Hieu, the company's director.
By now, Koyu&Unitek has reached a production capacity of 330 tonnes a month but there will be other investments in new plants to increase its capacity to more than 1,000 tonnes per month to meet demand from Japan, as Mr Hieu mentioned.
Also, CP Vietnam Corporation announced the construction of a modern factory that will deliver products to Japan. The company plans to invest $250 million USD in the first phase of the project for a closed-chain production line from producing chicken feed to breeding chickens and slaughtering and processing them. The production capacity in the first phase is estimated at 50 million chickens a year.
According to officials from CP Vietnam Corp, exports deals were signed with different foreign partners even before building the plant.
Pork and poultry producers in Vietnam are confident about their chance to export in markets such as South Korea, the EU or Japan but only foreign enterprises in the country have managed yet to secure access for their products in foreign markets.
