Turkey reports increased chicken meat production
Turkish chicken meat production has increased by 9.1% in February, reaching 172,823 tonnes, informs the Turkish Statistical Institute. The volume shows an increase in the weight of birds as the slaughter figures reported for February is only 6.5% higher year-on-year. Also, hen egg production increased by 3.6%, and turkey meat production decreased by 1.3% in February compared with the same month of the previous year.
In fact, turkey meat production is in continuous decline since the beginning of the year, as reflected by a drop of 4.6% in the first two months of 2020 compared with the same period last year. The most significant decline in turkey output was reported in February, 4,238 tonnes, 9.9% lower from the previous month.
