Spanish processor enters alliance with British producer
Costa Food Group seeks to increase its market share in the UK by signing a partnership with British food producer Caswick to distribute Spanish pork and sausages in Britain. Uk's meat market generates about €333 million per year for the EU companies, of which Spanish charcuterie products account for about 30%, according to CDeComunicacion magazine.
Cranswick invoices more than GBP 1 billion per year (€1,169 million) which makes it one of the main companies in the UK meat industry. It has recently opened modern meat processing facilities in Bury. It is a company that practices a transparency policy in the supply chain, looking for integrated solutions from the farm to the table with total traceability.
Costa Food Group invoices 900 million euros annually and in recent years has carried out major acquisitions such as Casademont, La Nuncia and Villar. The company's deli business accounts for approximately 15% of the total.
