Spain targets a chorizo production of 2.1 million kilos for this year
El Consorcio de Chorizo Espanol (CChE) targets a total production of 2.1 million kilos of cured sausages and reported by now a total of 1,101,725.18 kg of chorizo labelled under its seal, which stands for a 36% increase in production compared to the same period of 2017.
For the time being, the objective has been achieved so far with a degree of compliance of 50.8%. In 2017, total production of chorizo was of 1.6 million kilos.
The main purpose of this voluntary association that brings together companies in the Spanish meat sector, is the promotion in international markets of a quality brand that endorses values such as quality, tradition, authenticity and origin, reports CdeComunicacion.
The destination of exports of cured sausages covers a large number of countries and the first three destinations of exports are in Europe. In particular, the five countries to which exports are mainly directed are the United Kingdom, France, the Czech Republic, Belgium and Germany.
