Spain is targeting Asia and the Middle East for its sheep sector

Interovic, the Spanish professional body of Sheep and Goat, is taking an active role in the opening of new markets and in the promotion of already open markets, both in the meat trade and in the market for live animals.
To achieve this goal, the interprofessional works in the promotion of quality, the European model of production and the Spanish production system, unique in the world for its effectiveness in traceability, excellent quality and food safety as arguments to enhance the value of Spanish products in other countries.
"Although the promotion plans cover many areas, the Middle East is one of the candidate destinations to develop a campaign to promote Spanish meat in the coming years. Other countries of strategic interest, in which Spain has closed sheepmeat trade, are located in Asia, which is why Interovic is working with the objective of opening exports to them", mentioned the association in a statement.
Interovic expressed its interest on Asian markets since 2016 when the association attended at the "World Meat Industry Development Conference 2016" in Beijing with a clear intention to open the Chinese market for Spanish sheep and goat products.
