Mr. Ciobo, according to the Weekly Times, will participate at the Joint Ministerial Economic Commission with Chinese Minister of Commerce Zhong Shan. The Australian Trade Ministers plans to discuss with its counterpart the issue of raising the temporary bans, which have been in place since July.

“It’ll be a chance for us to talk about the next steps from here,” Mr. Ciobo said. “Obviously I am seeking to restore normal trade as soon as possible.”

The plants with product labeling issues are JBS’ Beef City and Scone plants, Thomas Food International’s facility in Murray Bridge, South Australia, Northern Cooperative Meat Company’s Casino processor and Kilcoy Pastoral and Australian Country Choice plants in Queensland.

“Following the audits, the department has verified that all establishments meet China’s importing country requirements,” a spokesman told the Adviser. “It is not possible to put a definitive time frame on resolving this issue, but it remains a priority for ministers, our Embassy officials in China, and the department.”
