Signs of consolidation in the Spanish pork industry

A new food group emerged in Spain, as three companies - Goikoa, Alejandro Miguel and Los Alecos - merged under the name GAM Family. The new entity gathers a turnover of €250 million and has a presence n more than 50 countries around the world. The three companies were already collaborating together, each contributing their great knowledge of the market. With very similar profiles, the three enjoy a long and recognized track record in the sector, specialization in strategic areas and closeness to customer needs. This similarity between the three operators has facilitated this collaboration.
Goikoa is a family business specialized in sausages and has a history of almost 100 years. The company is one of the top 5 manufacturers of sliced ??cured sausage in Spain, with a current production capacity of 12,000 tons a year. It has a wide range, which includes chorizo, chistorra, cooked ham, serrano ham, salami, turkey breast, snacks, salami, bacon, etc.
Alejandro Miguel is well known for its Duroc pig meat products which are sold under the brands Alejandro Miguel, for fresh meat, and Artysan, for processed products. Ten years ago it began its journey in the world of Iberian ham, where today it is an important operator and markets its products under the Altanera brand.
The Alecos is a renowned name among pig breeders in Spain. a company dedicated to the production of pigs, mainly to the reproduction and rearing of pigs with genetic lines of high added value, which guarantees the highest quality of the meat. A task that, since its foundation in 1967, is based on animal welfare and sustainability. It has almost 100 collaborating farmers and a sales volume of over €50,000,000. It has reference certifications in animal welfare and antibiotic-free production. All three companies are based in the province of Navarra.

Thus, GAM Family arises with a vocation to innovate, to grow, to serve consumers with increasingly changing trends, but without losing its origin, a family origin based on work and effort, on doing the things well, in seeking quality as the highest principle. "We are starting a new stage in which we reinforce all our values ??by pooling all our experience at the service of the market and society", is highlighted in the official statement with which the group is presented. In this way, GAM Family becomes, more than the union of three companies, but a family project with a desire for continuity backed by the strong specialization of each of its members. A union of synergies that will allow us to continue being close to customers but with greater capacity and agility to meet any type of demand, both within and outside our borders, informs the group.
