Sarawak bans poultry imports from Sabah
The ban applies only for the Lawas district, which is along the border with Sabah, as reported by Malaymail.
Authorities from Sabah have detected the avian influenza virus in a chicken farm in Tuaran. All the birds from this farm had to be culled.
Until now, Sabah Department of Veterinary Services (DVS) has culled about 10,000 chickens and are expected to cull another 18,000.
The Sarawak authorities said the ban will be lifted when the Sabah will be declared a bird-flu free region.
