Sao Paulo will become a free zone of foot-and-mouth disease without vaccination, after the next immunization phase that will take place in November. Sao Paulo will become a free zone of foot-and-mouth disease

The measure makes Sao Paulo a disease-free zone without vaccination, as has already happened with the states of the Federal District, Espírito Santo, Goiás, Minas Gerais, Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul and Tocantins.

"It is an achievement of all the inhabitants. Animal health in our state now has yet another proof of its excellence. Sao Paulo will be able to seek increasingly profitable markets for the quality of meat from free areas without a vaccine. After a lot of work by the technical body of the Government of SP and the rural producer, we reached the status of free of foot-and-mouth disease without vaccination", says, in a note, the Secretary of Agriculture and Supply of SP, Antonio Junqueira.

"This is the maximum sanitary status against foot-and-mouth disease, the result of years of work in the defense service and alliance with the rancher. From now on, new opportunities will come with the opening of new markets", celebrates Luiz Henrique Barrochelo, veterinarian and coordinator of the Agricultural Defense Coordination (CDA) of the Ministry of Agriculture and Supply (SAA), responsible for surveillance against disease.
