Retailer: "There is food for all Danes if everyone acts as usual"

Danish government officials and executives from modern retail have appealed to all the consumers in the country to act responsibly to avoid any food shortage in the following weeks. For now, the supply chain is in place to respond to the demand but panic buyers may create shortages, warns Tomas Pietrangeli (photo), Group CEO at Dagrofa, a Danish retail group operating its chain of stores and stores under franchise for SPAR, Mery and Kiwi brands. "The supply chain is in place. We all have a special responsibility in the industry, which we take on with the utmost seriousness. We have daily meetings with the authorities and with each other and given a way of helping us in this situation. There is food for all Danes if everyone acts as usual. We continuously follow government recommendations, which we are in dialogue with on a daily basis We are locally anchored, which is why many of our skilled merchants have local initiatives that help customers in their exact local area," Mr. Pietrangeli said after a joint press conference with Food Minister Mogens Jensen and other executives from Danish retail.
Since last week, the country's government decided to impose comprehensive measures to limit the spread of coronavirus in Denmark. Those include remote-working for employes, closing the schools and universities and limiting access to public events.
