In revenue, sales in the sector grew 8.8%, with US$ 237.1 million in October this year, against US$ 217.9 million obtained in the tenth month of 2021.

Year-to-date, pork exports totaled shipments of 924.2 thousand tons between January and October, a volume 4.5% lower than that recorded in the first ten months of 2021, with 967.9 thousand tons.

Among the main destinations for pork exports, China, the largest importer, increased its purchases by 23.2% in October compared to the previous year, reaching 46,000 tonnes. Other highlights were Chile and the Philippines which, according to the same comparison, increased their imports by 74.8% (with 7.2 thousand tons) and 0.3% (with 4.4 thousand tons).

"The average for the second half of the year remains above 100,000 tons, at levels above that recorded both in the first half of this year and the average for the entire year of 2021. The result points to the recovery of the performance of the year in relation to that recorded in the year past and indicates the same trend for 2023", evaluates the president of ABPA, Ricardo Santin.
