Poland is willing to provide information about the beef scandal
Poland must deliver by March 25 all the information regarding the implementation of actions previously recommended by the European Commission in order to eliminate all restrictions applied by the Czech Republic on Polish beef exports.
At the beginning of this month, Czech Minister of Agriculture Miroslav Toman has asked the European Commission to mandatory checks on Polish beef exported in the EU after finding the presence of salmonella in one consignment of beef from Poland. At that time, minister Toman expressed his belief that this is the right measure to follow until the Polish side provides convincing evidence that the slaughter of animals is carried out under veterinary supervision, and hygiene during meat production meets the requirements of legal regulations.
A tripartite meeting was held on March 18 in Brussels on the withdrawal by the Czech Republic of restrictive checks on beef originating in Poland. It was attended by Polish Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Jan Krzysztof Ardanowski, Czech Minister of Agriculture Miroslav Toman and EU Commissioner for Food Safety Vytenis Andriukaitis. The parts have agreed upon the subject with the condition that Polish officials will provide this information until March 25 to their Czech counterparts.
