Philippines takes first place in Brazilian pork exports in 2024
In terms of revenue, the balance is a record: a total of US$ 313.3 million in October, surpassing by 56.4% the total achieved in the tenth month of last year, with US$ 200.3 million.
In the year (January to October), pork exports accumulated an increase of 10.7% in volumes, reaching 1,121 million tons exported in the first ten months of 2024, against 1,013 million tons in the same period of the previous year.
Export revenue in 2024 is also positive, with an increase of 5.2%, totaling US$ 2,482 billion between January and October this year, compared to US$ 2,361 billion in the same period last year.
In the survey by destination, the Philippines took first place for the first time in Brazilian pork exports in the year to date, with a total of 206 thousand tons exported between January and October 2024, a balance 103.3% higher than in the same period of the previous year. Next are China, with 199.9 thousand tons (-40.6%), Chile, with 92.5 thousand tons (+33.9%), Hong Kong, with 89.4 thousand tons (-11.8%) and Japan, with 75.8 thousand tons (+137.2%) .
"After years as the main destination for Brazilian pork exports, China has given way to the Philippines, at a time when we are seeing the sector significantly expand the reach of its exports. In October, of the top 10 importers, only two did not register significant growth, which places Brazil's pork export industry in a new scenario, with greater commercial sustainability", analyzes the president of ABPA, Ricardo Santin.
Santa Catarina remains Brazil's leading exporter of pork, with 68.6 thousand tons exported in October, a balance 45.7% higher than in the same period last year. Next are Rio Grande do Sul, with 27.6 thousand tons (+25.6%), Paraná, with 20.6 thousand tons (+44.5%), Mato Grosso, with 3 thousand tons (-19.2%) and Mato Grosso do Sul, with 2.9 thousand tones (+54.6%).
