Nick Meara explained the challenges of Halal certification for Australia's meat industry

Nick Meara, one of the speakers invited to be a part of the EuroMeatNews & Gulfood workshop "Modern focus on traditional halal meat market", says that the compliance system existing at this time in Australia for halal meat exporters. Roles played by every organization involved in the process of halal certification was clearly explained by the speaker into a presentation that followed the way of halal meat from paddock to the consumer's plate. The MLA expert presented samples of documentation and stamp that are used to confirm the halal compliance for the meat exported by Australia in the Middle East region.


Nick Meara was recently appointed as Meat and Livestock Australia’s (MLA) International Business Manager for the Middle East and North Africa. Before that, Mr Meara was holding the position of Business Development Manager for the region. Prior to joining MLA, Nick Meara spent two years consulting to the Abu Dhabi Government in the commercial utilization of meat and livestock production in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
