Malaysian company launched Omega-3 pork

Dindings Farms, Malaysia, recently presented the new product from its facilities, Omega 3 enriched pork. Feeding the animals with flaxseed has proved to be a solution for the meat to become healthier and tasteful.
The Omega-3 enriched pork is created through a shift in diet, using feed enhanced with flax seed that is supplied by French Valorex SAS. Animal nutrition company APSN Biotech Sdn Bhd and non-profit organization Bleu-Blanc-Coeur (BBC) performed the advisory role in the creation. Speaking at a launch recently, BBC’s international development manager Jeremie Renaud stressed that consumption of food rich in Omega-3 helps to reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease, lower the level of triglyceride in diabetes patients and improve skin barrier function, according to Asian-Agribiz magazine.
Flaxseed contains alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), a form of Omega-3 fatty acid that the human body cannot generate itself. The omega-3 ALA in flaxseed can be converted by enzymes in the body to the useful omega-3 eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA), and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA). For now, the Omega-3 enriched pork is delivered to the domestic market in two important Malaysian cities, Selangor and Negeri Sembilan.
