Live bird imports from Switzerland, Ireland and UK banned in Kuwait
A temporary ban was placed by the Kuwaiti authorities on live bird imports from 11 countries due to an outbreak of avian flu.
Switzerland, Ireland and UK, as well as Indonesia, Brunei, Thailand, Timor-Leste, Singapore, Philippines, Vietnam and Cambodia are the countries targeted by the restriction.
A statement made by the state’s Public Authority for Agricultural Affairs and Fish Resources (PAAAFR) specify that the ban encompasses all types of live birds, hatching eggs and one-day-old chicks, informs Middle East Monitor.
Avian flu virus first emerged in 2004 and spread into China, Indonesia, South Korea, Hong Kong, Japan, Laos, Thailand and Vietnam.
