KFC restaurants in the UK are hit by a chicken shortage
KFC restaurants in the UK and Ireland have been forced to keep the doors closed on Monday, February 19th, as the company is confronted with a chicken shortage due to a delivery system error in the supply chain.
"The chicken crossed the road, just not to our restaurants. We've brought a new delivery partner onboard, but they've had a couple of teething problems — getting chicken out to 900 restaurants across the country is pretty complex!", mentioned the company in a tweet. Also, KFC representatives declared that they didn't want to "compromise on quality, so no deliveries has meant some of our restaurants are closed and others are operating a limited menu or shortened hours". In Great Britain and Ireland, just 300 restaurants out of 900 were open on Monday morning.
KFC spokesperson Tori Oman stated that this is just a "ísolated issue" regarding the UK market and is not going to affect activities in other countries. The problem was generated by DHL delivery system, reports USA Today. "Due to operational issues, a number of deliveries in recent days have been incomplete or delayed. We are working with KFC and our partners to rectify the situation as a priority and apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused", said the company in a statement.
