Japan wants to export more Wagyu beef to Brazil
Japan is searching new markets for its Wagyu beef and Brazil could be one of those, according to NHK website. Japan External Trade Organization and several other groups representing the beef industry in the country were hosting an event at a Sao Paolo restaurant to promote premium Wagyu beef.
A chef of Japanese descent, who has promoted wagyu around the world, cooked for the event. He presented a dish of thinly sliced beef with salad and other enticements to an audience formed of chefs and restaurants owners.
Annual meat consumption in Brazil is around 100 kg per capita, a figure three times higher than the one reported in Japan. Brazil is the first South-American market for Japanese beef after a protocol was signed between the parts at the end of 2015.
