Increase in meat prices reported by Turkey

Meat prices have increased in Turkey from tle last quarter of 2020, announced the Turkish Statistical Institute (Turkstat). Producer Price Index of Agricultural Products (Agriculture-PPI) increased by 23.35% annually and 1.46% monthly, said Turkstat in a press release.
Agriculture-PPI (2015=100) on the previous month increased by 1.46%, on December of the previous year increased by 14.00%, on the same month of the previous year increased by 23.35% and on the twelve months moving averages basis increased by 21.71% in September 2021.
Compared to the previous month in sectors; products of agriculture, hunting and related services increased by 1.44%, forestry products and related services increased by 3.39% and fishing products and other fishing products decreased by 0.23%. Regarding monthly changes by main groups; live animals and animal products increased by 0.39%, non-perennial crops increased by 5.62% and perennial crops decreased by 5.02%.
The poultry sector witnessed the highest annual increase in prices 44.02%, followed by cattle (22.02%) and sheep and goats (20.12%).

In August, chicken meat production reached 192,522 tonnes (+22.9%), hen egg production was 1.6 billion units (+0.8%), while turkey production decreased by 7.5% in August compared with the same month of the previous year.
