INTERPORC accompanies the government of Spain on its official visit to China
Prior to this visit, INTERPORC was able to hold a meeting with the Secretary of State for Trade, Amparo López Senovilla, in which she expressed the Government's support for the sector and the commitment to continue working together in the promotion and export of pork and pork products.
Spain is the main exporter of pork and processed pork products to China, with a total of 560,488 tonnes worth 1.223 billion euros in 2023. Figures that represent 20.33% of the volume of Spanish pork exports and 13.7% of the value, as well as 20.95% of total pork imports from China. This year, between January and May, 261,100 tonnes have been exported for a value of 427.3 million euros.
Manuel García emphasises that "our aim is to strengthen alliances between both countries". For several years, he adds, "the relationship between the Chinese and Spanish pork sectors has evolved successfully towards a model of collaboration and mutual benefit". Arguments that demonstrate that "Spanish pork can contribute and achieve a lot at a top-level meeting such as this one, since we know the market and we have excellent relations with companies and authorities".
The official meeting will be held on September 10 at the Pudong Shangri-La Hotel in Shanghai, where after an opening session, several round tables will be held to address business relations between China and Spain. The talks will address opportunities in key sectors such as the green transition, industrial cooperation and collaboration in third markets.
