INTERPORC: "The pig sector must redouble its efforts in communication"
Herranz stressed that the pig sector is the "most important livestock sector in our country and one of the main international powers; an engine of the Spanish economy on which thousands of families in our rural Spain depend; and as this terrible crisis has shown an essential sector in the supply of food and that has made it possible to avoid the paralysis of the economy of those thousands of towns in our rural geography where our farms and industries are based".
Likewise, it is a sector "that does things very well, but we have to communicate it to a greater extent to the public, because it is what they are demanding." In fact, he explained, 71% of Spaniards demand more information about the living conditions of farm animals and that demand is "to which we respond, with initiatives such as the 'Certified Animal Welfare' seal of quality, with that we reinforce our commitment to good practices and provide that transparency, so necessary and demanded by the consumer".
