Himmerlandskod plans expansion of its slaughterhouse in Aalestrup
Himmerlandskod intends to expand the production capacity of its largest slaughterhouse. "We simply have too little space, so we must have figured out what we are doing. We must have made a decision here this spring," admitted director Lars Andersen, who has to choose on two different solutions: to expand the current building or to redecorate it. However, due to the growing number of suppliers, the expansion must be done before the end of the year.
"We have an ambition that we would like to slaughter even more animals. Right now we have 2,200-2,300 suppliers, and there are constantly inquiries from new people who would like to deliver to us," added Mr. Andersen. Himmerlandskod slaughtered approximately 104,000 cattle last year, of which 54,000 in Aalestrup. The rest were equally distributed among the Group's two other slaughterhouses, Nordic Beef in Hadsund and Kjellerup Eksports butchery.
