France announces the purchase of 2 million additional vaccines in response to the FCO3 epidemic
In order to anticipate the need for vaccines made available free of charge to farmers by the State, and to meet the needs of the sheep and cattle sectors throughout the country, the Minister wanted to supplement the existing stock. Since the first State order of July 5, 2024 – before the detection of the first outbreak of FCO3 in the territory on August 5 – the State has provisioned a total of 11.7 million doses. Thanks to this decision by the Minister, this stock will be increased by 2 million additional doses which will ensure optimized vaccination coverage.
This measure responds to Annie Genevard's wish to take into account changes in the dynamics of vaccine consumption by the various sectors impacted, in particular due to the gradual evolution of the vaccination zone in the territory and the return of animals from summer pastures.
The availability of vaccines is one of the foundations of our health sovereignty. Beyond the immediate response to the emergency, it is imperative to be able to anticipate new epizootic episodes as best as possible.
