Elite genetic center in pig farming was inaugurated in Paraná
The Superintendent of Agriculture and Livestock in Paraná, Cleverson Freitas, participated, last week, in the inauguration of the new elite genetic center in pig farming, in Parana.
It is the first farm for the production of elite pigs in Brazil. With an area of 70,000 square meters and the capacity to house 3,600 sows, the company will be responsible for the production of sires and females of extremely high genetic value, which could help position Brazil as a major exporter of swine genetic material.
Paraná is the second largest pork producer in the country, being responsible for generating jobs and income for thousands of people, contributing significantly to the economy of Paraná.
Cleverson Freitas highlighted the importance of the project for the economy of Paraná and, in particular, for pig farming, which is an economic activity of great importance for Brazil. "We believe that the inauguration of this genetic center in the municipality of Paranavaí, together with obtaining FMD-free status without vaccination at the World Organization for Animal Health, will help even more in the socioeconomic development of Paraná and Brazil”, he emphasized.
