Denmark has green light for high-value processed meat exports in China

After nine years of negotiations between Danish and China authorities, top processor Danish Crown is now granted access to several products on the biggest pork consumption market in the world.
Six products processed in two factories owned by Danish Crown's subsidiary Tulip Food are now cleared for export in China. The agreement is comprising pepperoni, salami, frankfurter sausages, hot dogs, canned luncheon meat and canned sausages, reports South China Morning Post.
It is a deal that could reach almost 42 million dollars a year in short-term, belives Tulip Food chief executive Kasper Lenbroch. until now, Danish Crown exported only fresh pork to China, this market accounting for 5% of its sales. In 2016/2017 FY, China bought from Danish Crown about 217,000 tonnes of meat worth about 500 million dollars ( 403 million euros).
Now, the Scandinavian company wants to get a better grip on high-value processed meat market of China as intends to open a factory in Shanghai in 2019. The first shipment of Tulip Food products is expected to be sent in a few weeks.
