Denmark aims to double organic food exports by 2030

Denmark wants to double the export of organic food in the next 10 years, according to a press release from the Ministry of Food. "There is a great global demand for organic foods. Denmark is one of the world's leading eco-nations. We can and must use this to meet this demand. The government has set a target to double Danish exports over the next ten years," declared minister Mogens Jensen.
The Minister of Food will open the Danish stand at BioFach on Wednesday, February 12 and will visit several of the companies participating in the fair. He will also meet with the German Minister of Nutrition and Agriculture as well as talk with politicians and stakeholders. "BioFach is a good showcase for showing the outside world what we can do, and the strong participation in the fair helps us to achieve our goals," he added.
Denmark's exports of organic food mainly go to Germany, while Sweden, the Netherlands, France and China follow suit. Overseas sales in 2018 were DKK2.9 billion (€388 million). The goal is to double organic food exports by 2030.

The government's ambition to double exports goes hand in hand with the goal of also doubling the organic area in Denmark and the Danes' consumption of organic products.
BioFach runs 12-15. February in Nuremberg in Germany and is the world's largest ecological fair. More than 40 Danish organic companies are involved.
