Danish Crown: 203 000 sirloin steaks were sold for the New Year Eve
The Danes still have beef on the menu when we speak about the New Year celebrations. Thus, Danish Crown Beef has sold out of sirloin. Among other things, 203,000 sirloin steaks have been sold, which were produced at the factory in Sdr. Felling. It is the second year in a row that beef tenderloin has sold out.
"When we can sell all the tenderloin we have available, it tells me that the Danes prefer and choose a good piece of beef for the New Year, at the same time it is important for many that they get a piece of meat that is easy to prepare, tastes good and goes well with many dishes", says sales director at Danish Crown Beef, Henning Sønnichsen, and adds about the demand for burger patties.
It's not just beef tenderloin that was popular in the run-up to the New Year. Sales of burger steaks in the Burger Boost series have doubled compared to last year and set a record for Danish Crown Beef.
"The burger is used both for everyday use and for parties. The fact that we can lift sales significantly in the run-up to New Year's is proof that we have succeeded in positioning the quality burger, so that consumers choose it either for the children on New Year's Eve or to have fun on New Year's Day", says Henning Sønnichsen.
In a survey carried out by YouGov for the Danish Crown, 34% of the Danes surveyed that it is tenderloin that they typically eat as a main course on New Year's Eve. In the same survey, 61% of the respondents that they themselves or with others prepare the dinner on New Year's Eve.
