Danes are going to learn how to shop for food responsibly

Danes may soon learn how to buy their food in a more climate friendly manner, claims the Ministry of Food. Danish consumers are very much ready to change their shopping habits and to a greater extent to look for sustainable food when they buy. A survey conducted by YouGov for the Food Authority shows that 75% of the respondents are looking for sustainable food. Nevertheless, half of them feel they don't know enough to make sustainable choices in stores.
"We will need to meet that challenge when we reach the goal of a 70 percent reduction of our CO2 emissions by 2030. We politicians must make sure that the Danes' willingness to eat more sustainably is followed by better information on sustainable food and meals. Public information in the food field is crucial for the consumer to make sustainable choices. The entire Danish food culture must have a green boost,", said Food Minister Mogens Jensen, who pledged to take on this task.
The announcement was made just before the opening of the World Food Summit 2019 in Copenhagen, where ministers, top officials, business leaders, experts and NGOs will discuss what it takes to change food production and consumption so that it will be significantly less stressful for the climate and the environment. One of the challenges is the barriers consumers face when choosing goods and changing habits. World Food Summit a two-day summit with participants from more than 30 countries.
