Croatian lamb product receives PGI status
'Li?ka janjetina' or 'Lika lamb' is a lamb meat from local Lika Curly sheep breed raised in Lika-Senj and Zadar Counties. The specific aromatic profile of the cooked meat of ‘Li?ka janjetina' is due to the botanical composition of the meadows and pastures on which the Lika lambs are raised.
The new denomination is to be added to the list of over 1,400 quality products protected at the EU level.
"The interest by manufacturers to protect their products shows an awareness of the importance of marketing domestic products. Apart from the proven origin and top quality, there is even more added value, better competitiveness and market visibility for our producers," said Deputy Prime Minister and Minister Tomislav Toluši?, according to Total Croatia News.
