Brazil's Minister of Agriculture, Livestock and Food Supply Blairo Maggi says that China should increase the number of Brazilian slaughterhouses that are authorized to export meat to the Chinese market.

China should authorize more Brazilian slaughterhouses to export meat to the Chinese market

 

Mr. Blairo Maggi also announced that during a meeting with president Michel Temer, the Chinese president, Xi Jinping, said that China is willing to purchase even more Brazilian meat than it has done before.

Furthermore, Mr. Maggi added that China is the main partner of the Brazilian agribusiness sector in world trade, Brazil's exports of agricultural products in 2016 to the Chinese market reaching 17.8 billion dollars.

The exports of Brazilian meat accounted for 1.75 billion dollars in 2016. Of the total, the shipments of beef reached 702.8 million dollars, while the exports of poultry and pork represented 859.5 million dollars and 189.3 million dollars respectively.
