China may open more to Brazilian meat imports

Several new meat plants from Brazil may gain access to the Chinese market if the two sides are going to come to a single conclusion during the trade negotiations that are going to take place in May, announce Reuters, quoting the Chinese ambassador to Brazil.
"We believe through the cooperation of both countries’ agriculture ministries and quality inspection departments, more Brazilian farm and animal products can be imported into the Chinese market", declared ambassador Yang Wanming. Due to the ASF situation, China has increased its pork imports in the last couple of months and also beef is a product in demand in this market.
Sources familiar with the matter are suggesting that 78 meat processing plants are going to receive clearance for export to China. According to the latest Rabobank analysis, China pork imports may reach 10 million tonnes this year, as the national pig inventory is shrinking.
