China lifts ban on Brazilian beef

After three months of suspension, Brazilian beef is regaining access to the Chinese market. According to the General Administration of Customs of China (GACC), the shipment of Brazilian boneless beef products under 30-month-old age to China has been resumed this week.
During the three months, the two sides have kept close communication on the lifting of the ban on Brazilian beef exports to China and both have put great efforts to resolve the issue as soon as possible. Earlier last month, the GACC announced to accept the import declaration of Brazilian beef products which was accomplished by health certificates that were issued before September 4, 2021 (not included). "The certification and shipment of animal protein to China will be normalized and can be resumed as of this week. This is really good news that we have been waiting for for some time. We had already provided all the technical information and were waiting for confirmation," Agriculture Minister Tereza Cristina Dias said.
The export ban on Brazilian beef caused widespread concern in the trading community as China sources about 40% of all its beef imports from Brazil.
