Caviar alert in Canada for risk of botulism

For the 10th time in the last 3 months, Canada's regulators have expanded a recall of Imperial Caviar and Seafood brand and VIP Caviar Club brand whitefish and salmon roe due to the risk of being infected with Clostridium botulinum bacteria.
"If you think you got sick from eating a recalled product, call your doctor. Also, check to see if you have recalled products in your home and throw them out or return them to the store where they were purchased", said representatives of the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA).
Food contaminated with Clostridium botulinum toxin may not look or smell spoiled but can still make you sick. Symptoms of botulism poisoning paralyze muscles, included those necessary for breathing, so anyone who has eaten any of the recalled caviar and developed early signs of symptoms should immediately seek medical attention.

Symptoms can include facial paralysis or loss of facial expression, unreactive or fixed pupils, difficulty swallowing, drooping eyelids, blurred or double vision, difficulty speaking or slurred speech and a change in sound of voice, including hoarseness. There were no cases of botulism reported by now but the consumers from New Brunswick, Ontario and Quebec are adviced not to consume those products.
