CPF expects to double its poultry exports to China
Thai chicken meat exports may increase at a fast pace this year, according to a statement from Prasit Boondoungprasert, Chief Executive Officer of CPF. Mr. Prasit said that opportunities for chicken meat exports from Thailand to China remain huge, thanks to the continuous increase in demand.
"In 2019, Thailand exported 70,000 tons of chicken meat to China and the volume is expected to jump to 150,000 tons in 2020 as more Thai chicken processing plants are expecting licenses", he said. The Chinese poultry market accounts for 2% in the company’s total sales and a recent bird flu outbreak in China, along with an ongoing deficit of animal protein in this market, may increase the demand for poultry.
At the same time, CPF is improving its swine business thanks to high pig prices especially in Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos and Thailand and that may help the company to achieve its 2020 sales target of about $19 billion.
