Still in the first half, revenue from exports reached US$ 1.413 billion, a balance 26.7% higher than the result registered between January and June 2022, with US$ 1.115 billion.

Considering only the month of June, pork sales reached 108.6 thousand tons (best monthly result recorded in 2023), a number 16.1% higher than that recorded in 2022, with 93.5 thousand tons. Revenue from international sales for the month reached US$ 264.3 million, a balance 20.7% higher than the total recorded in 2022, with US$ 219.1 million.

China remains the main importer of Brazilian pork, with 214.4 thousand tons imported in the first half (17.1% above last year), followed by Hong Kong, with 61.1 thousand tons (+21.6 %), Philippines, with 50.9 thousand tons (+21.8%) and Chile, with 41.3 thousand tons (+78%).

Santa Catarina continues as the largest pork exporting state, with 321.2 thousand tons exported between January and June (+14.9%), followed by Rio Grande do Sul, with 134.4 thousand tons (+17.35%) , Paraná, with 81.5 thousand tons (+6.28%), Mato Grosso do Sul, with 13 thousand tons (+56.44%) and Mato Grosso, with 12.5 thousand tons (+69.8%) .

“In a scenario that is still challenging for pig farming, pork exports have increased significantly in the accumulated result for the year, functioning as an alternative. Brazil has grown its participation in relevant markets, in the wake of the decrease in export volumes, for example, by the European Union, the world's largest exporter, and Canada, the third largest exporter. In addition to the significant increase in volume in China, Chile and Japan are the positive highlights in the first half”, said ABPA's director of markets, Luis Rua.
