Brazil: Pork exports grew 11.7 percent in January

Surveys by the Brazilian Animal Protein Association (ABPA) show that Brazilian pork exports (considering all products, including fresh and processed) totaled 99.6 thousand tons in January, exceeding 11.7% the total exported in the same period last year, with 89.2 thousand tons.

In terms of revenue, the sector's international sales totaled US$199 million, a balance 6.3% lower than the total recorded in January 2023, with US$212.4 million.

China, Brazil's largest pork importer, imported 23,100 tons in January (-44.6% compared to the previous year). In a highly positive flow, the Philippines imported 12.3 thousand tons in the same period (+241.3%), followed by Chile, with 10.8 thousand tons (+65.7%), Hong Kong, with 9.5 thousand tons (+34%) and Singapore , with 5.1 thousand tonnes (+10%).

In the ranking of the largest exporting states, Santa Catarina leads with 55.5 thousand tons exported in January, 11% more than in the same period in 2023. Next is Rio Grande do Sul, with 21.2 thousand tons (+3, 44%), Paraná, with 10.9 thousand tons (+4.9%), Mato Grosso, with 2.6 thousand tons (+25.8%) and Mato Grosso do Sul, with 2.5 thousand tons (+ 23.8%).

"There is a diversification in pork export destinations, with the establishment of greater demand in certain Asian nations. This month, we also saw countries in the Americas, such as Chile and the United States, reinforce their purchases", analyzes the president of ABPA, Ricardo Santin.
