Brazil: Egg exports close 2023 with growth of 168,1 percent
In terms of revenue, the increase recorded in 2023 is even greater, reaching 182% compared to 2022. In total, US$63.2 million was obtained in 2023, compared to US$22.4 million in the previous year.
In December, egg exports from Brazil totaled 947 tons, a number 119.5% higher than the total recorded in the same period in 2022, with 431 tons.
With these shipments, the sector generated revenue of US$ 2.5 million in the month, a performance 93.3% higher than the US$ 1.3 million recorded in the previous year.
Japan was the major international buyer of eggs produced in Brazil, with a total of 10.3 thousand tons in 2023 – a number 848.5% higher than that recorded in the previous year. Next are Taiwan, with 5.3 thousand tons in the year (no comparative data in 2022) and Chile, with 2.8 thousand tons (+1,302.3%).
"The significant increase in the volume of eggs exported in 2023, supported by the biosecurity of national production in the face of the absence of Avian Influenza in the country, found its destination in nations with high sanitary criteria, which highlights the countries’ confidence in the work carried out by Brazilian companies and by public authorities to preserve our health status. Today, egg exports represent 1% of the total produced by Brazil, and generate important revenue for the sustainability of the production chain, especially in a context of cost fluctuations", analyzes the president of ABPA, Ricardo Santin.
