Bosnia to open the Malaysian red meat market

Bosnia may soon export beef, lamb and goat meat to Malaysia, as the key conditions for that have been met, announced this week The Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Stasa Kosarac, quoted by the Sarajevo Time newspaper. "If the epidemiological conditions allow, the competent Malaysian inspectors will come to BiH at the end of February and visit the facilities that have been nominated for export, in order to perform controls. This is the final step in the process of approving the export of beef, lamb and goat meat to the Malaysian market. In the past period, we have been working rapidly on activities necessary for the export of meat to Malaysia, because we appreciate that the opening of new markets is one of the important measures to protect domestic production," explained Minister Kosarac.
He reminded that BiH and Malaysia had previously bilaterally harmonized international veterinary and health certificates, and that the Malaysian side submitted additional questions to the nominated export facilities from BiH, after which the arrival of Malaysian inspectors and approval of meat exports is expected.
Last year, Bosnia has increased meat exports by 93% in value, mainly supported by beef (10%), poultry (7.4%), sausages (27.04%) and canned products (74.58%).
