Big lawsuit against some of the largest Israeli food-retailers

A new case opened by Israeli consumers is going to affect some of the biggest players in food-retail from this country. Attorneys are now expecting approval from law courts across the country to open a huge lawsuit against Shufersal, Yeinot Bitan and Rami Levy supermarkets after different veterinary studies showed that the chickens sold in this stores were infected with Salmonella, reported Food Safety News, citing local media.

According to the data revealed by the studies, 55% of the chickens from Shufersal and Yeinot Bitan supermarkets were found tainted, while Rami Levy was cited having a ratio of 27% chickens contaminated with Salmonella.

Clients claim that the grocery chains are selling contaminated chickens without providing warnings that they may be infected. Salmonella can be destroyed by boiling the meat infested at 70 degree Celsius but the danger remains present for different segments of consumers.

"Salmonella can harm and hurt my children, whose internal defences may not be able to beat back the germs. In addition, the infected chicken infects other foods, and the entire kitchen environment, when you bring it home", complains one of the clients involved in this case against the retailers.
